Guitar Lessons

Guitar Lessons are kept simple and easy to understand. Classes meet weekly for 30 minutes. Guitar lessons work with and lead into the next lesson. Instructions, videos, and lesson notes are always posted in the online chatroom, so students can return there during the week and reference any of the music lessons, day or night. During the week, if students have questions or have forgotten how to do a certain exercise, I can always be reached for help.

Students learn to read notes, build chords, and put chords together harmonically. You’ll learn the ins and outs of music theory, develop muscle memory, and lead patterns and rhythms. One of the most rewarding aspects of guitar lessons is learning to write music – getting your message, your soulful thoughts out and sharing it with the world.

As guitar students, you’ll learn how to write music, harmonize, and learn to read key and time signatures. Honing drills and exercises will help you master hand flexibility and hand strengthening which in turn helps with overall coordination when playing the guitar. My exercises help your fingers become stronger, more flexible, and coordinated, which is vital in music because it enables you to play better. Fingers are not accustomed to being used in quite the same way as they are when playing instruments like the guitar or piano.

What notes are guitar strings? Why are there 7 notes in the musical alphabet? What kinds of guitars and keyboards are out there? These and so many more questions will be addressed in our guitar lessons. Once you have mastered the guitar your way, I will help you learn how to play with another individual or group. You’ll grasp how to put a band together, and where to sell your music.

As my student, you’ll learn the importance of owning a quality instrument. If your guitar has a bent neck, or your piano has a dead key, that will stifle your musical progress. You don’t need to pay a lot for a quality instrument. I’ve owned guitars that cost $40 and played better than others that cost a lot more. My expertise in music and musical instruments will guide you in choosing the perfect guitar or piano that fits you.

Music Lessons and Rates

Guitar lessons are designed for beginners and we start from ground 0. I offer group lessons for all ages: kids, pre-teens, teens, and adults. Why do I separate music lessons? Because everyone learns at a different pace within their developmental phase. Guitar groups will have 4 students. After the first course, if students want to continue, they can for another 16 weeks for the same low rate. Guitar lessons are only $11 per week.

Private guitar lessons are also available. With private music lessons, we learn at your speed since it’s just you and me. Just $48 per week for private guitar lessons.

Voice Lessons

For students interested in voice lessons, that is certainly an instrument that you don’t have to purchase! Most everyone has one. How it responds depends on what you do with it. My voice lessons will show you how to exercise your voice the correct way so that you can sing without straining. This will reduce your audience from complaining! You will learn phrasing, and which vowels and consonants are your best friends. The way you annunciate and pronounce words makes a difference when you sing.

Self-confidence is vital to your success. If you struggle with annunciation, pronunciation, and self-confidence (and most people seem to), I can show you how to overcome them. The more you train, the better your ability to do what it is you are striving to do will emerge. Building your confidence and skills will help you to believe in yourself and your potential.

One of my mottos is “Proper practice and not just practice. There is a wrong way to practice, so it’s important to practice the way I show you. Proper practice makes your musical abilities near perfect!

You will discover that playing an instrument is both exciting and relaxing. It’s great therapy!
